Data recovery, how to backup a disk drive with large database

If you have already gone through the shocking experience of looking at your PC's black screen announcing the death of your hard disk drive, you will agree it is an unforgettable experience.

It is even more unforgettable if all your life's work, data, accounts, customers lists, pictures, movies, databases, information (and games) that took years to accumulate have also disappeared.

Data recovery is not an easy task.  The average business program being about 10MB and the average hard disk capacity is 20 Gigabytes.  How do you backup 20 or even 40 Gigabytes of data?  Burn 57 CD-ROMS or CD-RW?

The answer is to own a large external data drive that can be connected to the fast USB port.  You can then backup the hard disk drive of  your PC or Notebook with ease.  This process of backing up does not require backup software.

If your business or personal career depends on the data that sits in your hard disk, you simply cannot afford not to backup.  The new USB external hard disk below will enable you to backup up to 40 Gigabytes of data in one backup.

One USB external drive is sufficient to backup your data.  Experts suggest that you should have a minimum of two large data storage devices or drives, alternating them in use for each hourly, daily, weekly or monthly data backup.

Larger organisations whose very existence depend on data, will hold up to six drives for each database back up.  How often you choose to back-up your hard disk drive depends on the type of database you hold.  The more static the database the less frequent the backups.  The more valuable the database the more copies of it you should have.

The concept behind using multiple backup drives is that, if your hard disk fails, and if the back up also fails (and this can easily happen) you will at least have one back up still available for data recovery.  If you purchase two back up USB drives you should store each one in separate locations (possibly different buildings).  If disaster strikes, you are more likely to recover from the loss of data.
